Books

On the train this morning I finished A Place to Live, a book of essays by Natalia Ginzburg. It was great. Book a week! Yay! Next week I'm either going to read something in Hebrew for the first time in a long time, or maybe not? I'm looking at A Civil Action and Gödel, Escher and Bach, and would like to borrow Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close from jarsofwind whenever we next get a chance to hang out.

Yay, thank you! I am SO sorry that I did not get to see you this past weekend. My fault for bad planning and not being available. So this week I'm reading A Civil Action, which has a totally dry, descriptive, factual writing style much unlike Kundera or Ginzburg. I actually like that it's written that way, as I'd forgotten how easy it is to write like your topic is boring even when it is more certainly not. One of those books where you read it and think, "I'm so glad that this book is showing me how not to write!"
